Half Way

Rick reached Melgeorge's Lodge at around 11:21 a.m. He will be stopping to eat some hot food and to get some sleep. Hopefully, as Mitch R. said in the comment section of the prior post, he will be "good as new". Keep the prayers going for a safe journey. Kristy

  3. Rick has a lot of support from runners, but I marvel at the support from his family! THANKS Kristy for not only the updates, but for loving such a "driven" man. I enjoy his insight and his friendship. He has touched my life in many ways. He's in my prayers, as well as the whole family.

  4. According to NOAA skies should be clear with a chance of flurries later and a slight west wind. Hopefully the wind works to your advantage. It is great to get the updates. Refill your tank, recharge your batteries and soldier on Rick! Paul

  5. Kristy:

Please wake Rick up by 2 pm and send him back out on the trail. Typically, that is the cut-off time that one needs to leave Melgeorges to make the finish before the race closes.

    Thank you.

  6. Kristy:

This is a very critical time now. Soon it will be time for Rick to dig down really deep and start to suffer.

If Rick mentions in any way about quiting, please tell him that he is not "thinking right."

If needed, mention that the pride of his accomplishing the AHU will stay with him forever.

    Thank you.

    Mitch

  7. I agree with you Tim! Thank you Kristy for all your updates and the unending support you give Rick. Best sag-wagon-cheerleader ("Go Rick - I quit!"-lol) a person could ask for.

  8. It is 2 pm.

If I was with Rick right now, as I had planned, I would look at Rick and say "It's Showtime!"

  9. It is extremely difficult watching from afar and having no impact or real knowledge of what is REALLY going on out there on the Arrowhead trail. I am monitoring Rick's progress from Fargo and like everyone else, I watch the SPOT tracking intently. I do get a phone call from Rick now and then as he moves along the trail, which eases the mind. Stay tuned as we watch to see what the ending will be. Kristy

  11. How ever this turns out..Rick will have given his all and his very best. In the short time I've known him he has the drive and determination to dig down deep when he has to. In true ultra runner fashion!

  12. Kristy:

Sorry, I thought that you were with Rick at the cabin.

I have DNF'd the AHU 3 times so I have an good idea of what is going through Rick's mind.

We were going to do this race together, but my wife had a last minute business trip. So I had to stay home to take care of my kids.

If you can, please call Rick up at 3 pm and tell him that Mitch says to get moving.

    Mitch
